Gregory Allen
Gregory Allen is a devoted father, community leader, and distinguished professional whose life reflects service, mentorship, and a commitment to creating opportunities for others. Born in Jamaica, he immigrated to Canada in 1969 and built an accomplished 44-year career as a professional engineer. He retired as Manager of the Civil Engineering Department at SNC-Lavalin, where he led and mentored more than 40 engineers and designers while contributing to major mining projects worldwide.
A graduate of CAST/UTech Jamaica and Toronto Metropolitan University, Gregory has remained deeply committed to education. As President of the CAST/UTech Alumni Association’s Ontario Chapter, he supported scholarships for students in Canada and Jamaica and helped secure more than US$5 million in donated laboratory equipment for UTech. In 2007, the university honoured him as a Distinguished Past Student.
For more than 30 years, Gregory has served on the Board of United Achievers’ Non-Profit Housing Corporation in Brampton and currently serves as its President, helping families access stable and affordable housing. He also volunteered for over a decade with United Achievers’ Community Services, supporting programs for youth, seniors, and newcomers. In addition, he serves as Secretary of the Probus Men’s Club of Brampton, organizing activities for seniors.
Gregory is the proud father of three accomplished children: Marlene Allen, a teacher with the Peel District School Board; Dr. Tara Allen, a pediatrician and Co-Director of the Sickle Cell Program at Trillium Health Partners; and Greg Allen, a professional engineer with Mott MacDonald Canada.
Gregory Allen embodies the spirit of a remarkable father—a man who leads with integrity, generously shares his time and expertise, and inspires others through his lifelong example of excellence and service.
